Hi there and thanks for stopping by. My name is Lisa and I’m addicted to sugar. Cakes, lollies, biscuits, ice-cream, sorbets – you name it and I’m likely to love it!

I’m a relative latecomer to the world of blogs, but I’ve never been much of an early adopter when it comes to these sorts of things! So why the sudden urge to blog? Well, writing is something that I do frequently in my line of work (marketing) and something I’ve enjoyed for as long as I can remember.

Cooking, and the subsequent eating of cooked food, is something I also enjoy and really started to do more of in the last few years. I find it gives me time out from my day job and creating something new and successful is very satisfying. For moments in time here and there I have entertained the thought of a career in food, but for now, I think I’ll stick to my day job in sport.

I’m always up for a challenge in the kitchen as I love trying and learning new things. Sometimes on the journey there are kitchen disasters, but I haven’t blown anything up (yet) thankfully 🙂

My background is Swiss and Hungarian, although food wise I’ve only ever really explored the Hungarian side. I grew up with my Hungarian grandma cooking for us on a regular basis. Actually, she still does and whenever we go over to visit there are usually enough leftovers for a week.

My trusty sidekick D and I enjoy eating out at great restaurants and cafes. There is nothing like trusting a great chef and know that even if something sounds a bit odd it is likely to be good, if not great!

I’m not the world’s best photographer, but I’m trying. I recently bought a new camera (I’m a Nikon girl for those playing along at home) and have enrolled to do some photography classes so hopefully there will be some significant improvements to the photos along the way.

Although the blog is called Mmmm, Sugar, you’ll occasionally see reviews/recipes for places that aren’t just about dessert because although I have a sweet tooth, I can appreciate the savoury too.

So here’s to enjoying the sweet things in life – cooking, baking, eating out.
